Mobile App: Tracking Solar Efficiency:

Our new mobile app allows users to monitor the efficiency of their solar systems in real-time. With a user-friendly interface and intuitive design, customers can easily track energy production, savings, and environmental impact.

Web Sales Platform: Streamlining Proposals and Offer Management:

We also developed a sophisticated web sales platform to simplify the process of creating and managing proposals. This tool helps our sales team deliver customized offers quickly and efficiently, enhancing the overall customer journey from inquiry to installation.

Design process

  • Research: Just like solar panels align with the sun’s path, we began by aligning with our users’ needs.
    • For Business Partners, we explored what fuels their growth: product clarity, easy ordering, and strong brand trust.
    • For End-Customers, we uncovered what sparks long-term engagement: real-time energy insights, intuitive controls, and visible savings. We mapped their journeys, identified friction points, and studied how clean energy is presented across the market.
  • Ideation and Design: We treated wireframes like solar arrays—each panel (or screen) carefully positioned to capture maximum user attention.
    • Business Portal sketches focused on product discovery, onboarding distributors, and empowering partners with training materials.
    • Customer App sketches prioritized effortless energy monitoring, usage history, and smart tips for efficiency. High-fidelity mockups brought Solarlume’s identity to life with warm sunlight gradients, clean layouts, and data visualizations that feel both powerful and approachable.
  • Prototype and Testing: With interactive prototypes, we simulated the flow of energy—how users move through the system.
    • Business users could browse products, submit partnership requests, and access order tracking.
    • End-customers could visualize their household energy usage in real time, set efficiency goals, and receive proactive alerts. Usability testing illuminated (pun intended) areas where navigation could be simplified and data made even clearer.
  • Iteration:Like fine-tuning solar inverters, we optimized every detail:
    • Streamlined onboarding steps to reduce user drop-off.
    • Refined data visualization for maximum clarity.
    • Enhanced responsiveness so the experience shines equally on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Hand-off: Finally, we packaged every design asset, interaction spec, and brand guideline for developers—ensuring they had everything needed to convert design energy into live digital power.

Solarlume web app design

  • Solar web app design focused on solar business management, providing users with vital intel on how their business performs.
  • DashboardThe dashboard screen shows details about sales, customers, proposals and revenue. Users also see transactions and existing clients.
  • ProposalProposals page shows all existing proposals, approved and proposals in progress.
  • ReportUsers can see reports from their transactions and business. New orders, earnings and expenses can be seen on this screen.

Solarlume mobile app

  • Mobile app design focused on user-friendly energy management and real-time solar data.
  • Dashboard screenMobile dashboard screen shows key power energy metrics like: Total energy generated, efficiency, money saved and, current energy consumed.
  • AnalyticsSolarlume analytics breaks down energy consumption from different appliances used and what is saved. Giving you a monthly and weekly summary.
  • PerformanceUsers can track the performance of their solar panels. Any faulty panels are highlighted in Red and good panels are Blue.
  • Energy ManagementEnergy page shows the correlation between energy production and energy consumption.

Results

Actionable results of Solarlume for both the Business Portal and Customer App — tied directly to outcomes that a clean energy brand would realistically achieve.

  • Increased Distributor Engagement: Reduced distributor sign-up time by 40%, leading to a 25% increase in partner registrations within the first 3 months.
  • Boosted End-Customer Retention: 30% increase in daily active users and improved customer retention rates by 18%.
  • Faster Decision-Making for Business Users: Cut average distributor product search time from 7 minutes to under 3 minutes, enabling faster order placements.
  • Increased Order Volume: Achieved a 22% uplift in order volume due to faster checkout and reduced friction.

Reflections

Designing for Solarlume was an opportunity to merge purpose-driven design with real-world impact. This project taught me how to balance the needs of two very different audiences—business partners seeking efficiency and market growth, and end-customers looking for clarity, control, and confidence in their energy usage.I learned the value of data storytelling—how presenting complex energy data in a clean, human-friendly way can change how people interact with renewable energy solutions. The challenge of creating an interconnected ecosystem of web and mobile products pushed me to think holistically, ensuring that the brand experience felt unified and seamless across all touchpoints.
